This is the announcement the community has been waiting years for: on August 19, 2026, the PokeMMO team officially confirmed a Pokémon Black 2 / White 2 expansion. Three days later, a first concrete milestone was set.
A public test weekend on September 19-20
The developers are running a public test server event from September 19 to 20, 2026. The stated goal: stress-test storyline balancing for the upcoming Black 2 / White 2 expansion and trial upcoming features.
- The test server is entirely separate from the live server: your regular progress is untouched.
- Progress made during the test is not saved: everything you do there disappears when the weekend ends.
- A separate game client is required. Access instructions will be published closer to the date.
What it could change
Black 2 and White 2 take place in a reshaped Unova, two years after Black/White: new accessible areas, a different progression route, reassigned gyms and a much wider wild roster from the very start. For an MMO like PokeMMO, that potentially means new locations to explore, new trainers to farm and brand new encounter tables.
No final release date has been given for the expansion itself: September's test weekend is a development milestone, not a launch.
Meanwhile
The Shiny Wars 2026 event ends on August 28, and with it the accelerated season rotation: check our seasons guide to plan for the return to a monthly cycle. For hunting, our location pages now show real rates season by season.
PikaMMO will follow the test weekend and refresh its data as soon as the expansion is playable.
