Seasons in PokeMMO
Long confined to Unova, seasons became a core PokeMMO mechanic with the summer 2026 encounter rework: across all five regions, available Pokemon, their encounter rates and hordes now change with the season. Here is how the system works and how to use it.
The season calendar
- Normally the season changes every real month, following the Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter cycle (as in Pokemon Black/White): January is a Spring month, February a Summer month, and so on.
- Some events speed up the rotation: during Shiny Wars, seasons rotate every 7 days.
- The current season is shown in game; PikaMMO location pages list availability season by season.

What the season changes
- Spawns and their rates. The same area can host different species, or the same ones at very different rates. Examples from game data: Cubchoo reaches 30% in Winter at Twist Mountain versus 5% in Summer; Gible goes from 10% in Winter to 30% in Summer in Wayward Cave.
- Season-exclusive spawns. Some Pokemon only appear in one season: wild Beartic only exists in Winter (at Dragonspiral Tower), as does Cubchoo on Unova Route 7.
- Hordes. A profitable EV horde may only exist in some seasons or change rates: check the EV Hordes by Season tool to plan your training.
- Deerling forms. Deerling and Sawsbuck change appearance depending on the season they are met in.
- Scenery and access. In Unova, Winter snow alters some areas and opens otherwise unreachable paths (Twist Mountain snowdrifts, for example).
Cynthia in spring: the date not to miss
- The Sinnoh Champion stays at the Undella villa (Unova). As in Black/White, she can be battled there, then rematched once a day during Spring.
- It is one of the most profitable battles in the game in PokeYen per win: every Spring season, add her to your daily route (Elite Four, rich trainers).

Within the day: morning, day, night
- On top of the season, each spawn has separate morning / day / night rates. A PokeMMO day lasts 6 real hours, so the full cycle runs 4 times per real day.
- PikaMMO Pokemon and location pages show all three rates when they differ.
Planning around seasons
- Before a shiny hunt or an EV session, check the current season and filter the location page by season: the filter is available on every location page.
- A target that is rare this season may be far more common next one: sometimes waiting for the right month cuts hunt time by half or more.
- For EVs, keep the EV Hordes by Season tool handy: it ranks the best hordes per stat with their seasonal availability.
