The 3rd annual shiny hunting competition runs from August 1 to 28, 2026. A month of team-based hunting, a +10% shiny boost for everyone, and exclusive prizes for the winners. Here is everything you need to register, score points and build a team strategy.

How to register
Teams have 25 to 30 players, with a designated captain who submits the registration on the official forum between July 23 and 29.
One character per player: pick the one with the Shiny Charm and access to all regions.
Every OT shiny caught during the event is scored automatically at catch time: no need to hold your catches until the end, you can sell as you go.
No team? The +10% boost applies even to unregistered players: August is still the best solo hunting month of the year.
The scoring table
Each species belongs to a tier based on rarity (a whole evolutionary line shares the same score). Note: shinies bred from two shiny parents score zero. The +10% boost only applies to wild encounters (no eggs, fossils or Game Corner).

Team strategy
Stack your rates: Donator + Shiny Charm give 1/24,000 normally. With the +10% event boost, this is the best rate ever available in PokeMMO. See the shiny guide for bonus details.
Hunt 5x hordes: five encounters per battle means five times more rolls per hour. It is the king method for point volume.
Split the roles: volume hunters on common hordes (3-8 pts that stack up), specialists on high tiers, and one or two players on shiny Alphas (75 pts each, see the Alpha guide).
Plan around season rotation: during the event, seasons rotate every 7 days (Summer, Autumn, Winter, Spring). Some spawns change with the season: plan your spots week by week with the wiki locations.
Prepare your gear before August 1: a False Swipe user with Hypnosis or Spore, hundreds of the right Poke Balls, Leppa berries for PP, and Synchronize leads for natures.
Wait for the patch before locking plans: the July 24-25 encounter overhaul will shake up every spot. The wiki Pokedex and location data will be updated as soon as it ships.
